On 29 October, Reuters reported that the Swiss government had assessed possible consequences if UBS relocated abroad in response to proposed tougher capital requirements. The proposals could require UBS to raise approximately US$18 billion in additional common-equity Tier 1 capital under a 100% backing scenario, while parliament’s upper house has proposed a 90% target. These are regulatory scenarios, not a confirmed capital payment or legal-services contract.
